A Rutgers Championship!

The football team may not be playing in the National Championship game between Ohio State and Oregon going on in Texas right now, but someone from Rutgers is going to Disney World.

The Rutgers Cheer and Dance team just won the "Cheer On Your Disney Side" contest being run by ESPN and Disney tonight, beating out the other finalists Auburn, LSU, and Santa Monica. The program wins a hundred thousand dollar grant and a trip to Disney World. The past few weeks have been rough for the SEC.

The people of Connecticut are still patiently waiting...

... for Julie Hermann to retroactively apologize for all the years of "Huck the Fuskies" buttons and t-shirts, now that she has apologized to Penn State.

I guess boorish football fans don't fit into the plan to turn R House into an idyllic sanitized "Disney World Experience."

If I Wanted a Fucking "Disney World Experience," I'd Go to Fucking Disney World

"What I can promise you, one of the things we're working on most, is when you come see us at ball games, starting with High Point Solutions Stadium, you have a world-class, Disney World experience. That's important to us." --Julie Hermann, Rutgers Athletic Director

First of all, it's properly referred to as "Rutgers Stadium" or "R House".

Second, most of our fans are past the age of ten and couldn't imagine a worse hell than being subjected to a "Disney World experience" when attending a Rutgers football game.

Just thought I'd get that on the record. That's important to me.

How To Play College Football (via Disney 1944), or Upstream Red Team!, or Go Taxidermy Tech!

Here's a little off-season distraction for you.

I had a friend overseas who was a little mystified by the rules of baseball this morning, so she had found the Disney "How to Play Baseball (1942)" film on YouTube. I don't think it helped much, but she sent me the link and I stumbled upon the "How to Play Football (1944)" film, which I don't ever remember seeing as a kid.
As a Rutgers fan, it's hard not to take a rooting interest in the team dressed in red.
